Hello everyone – it has been awhile since last we spoke. I hope you are doing well and are enjoying your summer!
Lizzy is doing well. Her hair has started to grow back, she has enjoyed restarting swim lessons, and she and big sis Treasure even went to a Moana dance camp! They had a blast. Liz and Treas also spent several hours last Saturday running their own lemonade stand to raise money for Make-A-Wish. They did a great job and raised $60!! Lori and I are very proud of both of them.
Well, if it is July, then that must mean it is time for another set of scans for Lizzy. As you may recall, Lizzy had clear scans at the end of March and she is on an every-three-month schedule for scans for the next 2 years. So, tomorrow we will leave the house very early and make our way to Cincy. She is scheduled for 2 different scans tomorrow plus bloodwork, and then we will meet with her oncologist to get the results.
I’ve talked in previous posts about Scanxiety, and as much as I want to pretend it’s not real, it is. I think it is especially the case this time around because it was July 17, 2018 when we went for what we thought was going to be just a routine set of every-three-month scans when doctors discovered the relapse in her lung. That day caught us so off guard and rocked our world so hard, that this time around Lori and I are reliving some of those thoughts and feelings and emotions as we prepare for tomorrow.
Thankfully, God has given us peace. The enemy still tries to come and steal and destroy that peace through worry and anxiety, but we recognize it for what it is. And we know that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.
So, will you join us as we pray for Lizzy and her scan results tomorrow? Pray that our travels will go smoothly, testing will go smoothly, and results will be clear. And also pray that Lori and I will continue to be overwhelmed by God’s peace and presence and that we can be witnesses of His glory to everyone we come in contact with tomorrow.
We love you all and are so thankful for your prayers and support. I will post an update once we get the results.
