Party Details and Lizzy’s Next Steps

Here are the details for Lizzy’s “End of Chemo Celebration”.  The event will be at Watkins Preschool, which is a ministry of Watkins United Methodist Church.  This is where Lizzy was enrolled when she was first diagnosed, and it is where she will be returning in just a few weeks!

The address of the Preschool is 9800 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40241.  The celebration will be from 1p-4p on Saturday, April 13.  There will be a special time of praise & worship starting at 2p.  We will have a bounce house, some light snacks, and a chocolate fountain!  (that last one was Lizzy’s special request!).

This celebration is open to everyone, so please come join us as we celebrate and thank God for what He has done for Lizzy and our family.

As for Lizzy’s Next Steps, there are just a few items remaining.  This Friday March 29, (which is also Lori’s birthday!), we will be in Cincy all day for a series of scans & tests.  These scans & tests are being done to (1) establish a baseline for comparison purposes on all future scans, and (2) to verify that there hasn’t been any damage done to various organs/functions due to the chemo and radiation.  It will be a long day, but we know it’s just part of the process.

Following Scan day, Lizzy will have a follow-up appointment with her doctor on Tuesday, April 2.  We will get the results of all of her scans/tests on that day, as well as be told what ongoing care will look like.  Finally, and hopefully later that same week, Lizzy will have outpatient surgery to have her port removed.  Once that happens, this phase of the fight is OVER!!

As most of you know, once you have a cancer diagnosis, the fight is never completely over.  There will be ongoing care, scans and monitoring for the rest of her life.  But for now, we celebrate the end of this phase and really hope that you can join us for THE PARTY!!!!
