Well, the counts weren’t high enough today so there won’t be an admission tomorrow. However, we are going to go ahead and move forward with a plan, so that is good news!
Still Waiting for An Admission
Lizzy’s blood counts are still not where they need to be for an admission. Today, her platelets and her ANC were below the threshold for admission, but thankfully, they were both high enough so that she does not need any transfusions.
Today marks the 4th time we’ve checked her counts for possible admission, and it’s the 4th time they weren’t high enough.
Another Week, Another Delay
Today (Friday) was supposed to be the beginning of Lizzy’s FINAL inpatient admission. Unfortunately, yesterday when we had her blood counts checked, her platelet count was too low to be able to tolerate the chemo. It wasn’t low enough to where she needed a transfusion (thank you God), but it was low enough that her admission has been postponed.
Weekly Update – We Can See the Finish Line!
This week has been “routine”, which now means Lizzy had her blood checked, Lizzy had transfusions, Repeat.
It’s kind of weird how, if you told me 2 years ago that my daughter was going to have 3 blood transfusions in the span of 3 days, I would have probably freaked out. But now, my daughter had 3 blood transfusions over the span of 3 days this week and I consider it a “routine” and “uneventful” week. Amazing how our experiences change our perspective.
