Sunday update

Lizzy’s ANC is still 0 as of this morning. So, it looks like she will be spending Christmas in the hospital.  While this isn’t what Lori and I had hoped for, we are in agreement that (1) God is in control and (2) with her blood counts this low, meaning she basically doesn’t have an immune system capable of fighting off anything right now, we would much rather her be in a clean sterile environment like the hospital.

So, we will now proceed with our contingency plan and spend Christmas Eve in Cincy, spend the night in Cincy and wake up Christmas morning to celebrate together in the hospital.  If we’ve learned anything over the past 1+ year, it’s how to be flexible and roll with the punches!

In the meantime, a few days ago Lizzy received a “virtual” visit from Santa.  The Cincy hospital used modern technology so that all of the kids on the Hematology/Oncology floor could talk to Santa even though Santa couldn’t physically come into their rooms.  The hospital made a video about it and posted it on their Facebook page.  The link is below and guess who is the first and last child they show in the video?  That’s right, our little Lizzy!!  Check out this link:

I’ll continue to post updates as warranted, but in the meantime, please know that we wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!  We were reminded today at church that the best present was the very presence of God himself in the form of the baby Jesus.  We celebrate that and embrace the joy we have in Him.  May each of you be filled with the same joy and may each of you be as richly blessed as we are!
