Lizzy had her blood counts checked yesterday and the white blood cell count is still too low for chemo, so she did not get admitted today as planned. We will check her counts again tomorrow and if the counts are acceptable, she will get admitted on Friday.
This admission is scheduled to be a 5 day admission, so we are anxious to see what her counts are tomorrow. At this point, her doctor has been willing to push the chemo back from last week to this week, so hopefully the numbers come up so she can get the treatment this week and we can be home before Thanksgiving. We spent last Thanksgiving Day at Children’s Hospital Colorado, so I guess if we spend this Thanksgiving Day at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, you could say spending Thanksgiving Day in a children’s hospital has become our new Thanksgiving tradition!!
No matter what, God continues to give us strength and peace. Lori and I are more committed than ever to let God’s light shine through us to everyone who hears Lizzy’s story. There are so many people in this world who are hurting and going through things a lot worse than we are, so we count our blessings every day and want everyone to know that the only true peace and comfort comes through knowing Jesus and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior.
I will write more when we know more about Lizzy’s status. Until then, may “the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; (may) the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
