We met with Dr. Geller and his team today at Cincinnati Children’s. He reviewed all of the results to-date and discussed what is still unknown. Basically there are still 2 unknowns – (1) what the spot is on her pelvic bone; and (2) getting a second opinion on the pathology report from a nationally renown pathology group in Chicago.
Pelvic spot – a biopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday 12/5 in Cincinnati. It is an outpatient procedure; however, they want to start chemo on Wednesday, so at this point we plan to spend the night in Cincinnati on Tuesday night and then come home Wednesday after the chemo treatment.
The results of the biopsy as well as the second opinion pathology report will determine the full course of treatment (how many drugs in the chemo mix, how many weeks of chemo, etc) as well as the Staging of the cancer (Stage 1, Stage 2, etc). With that said, Dr. Geller indicated that the first 3 weeks of chemo are the same, regardless of biopsy results or path reports, so that’s why they wanted to go ahead and get the chemo started this week.
And so it begins. We are confident that our God goes before us and is giving us strength as we go. We continue to be blessed by your prayers and support and appreciate it more than you know.
